At Isdefe, innovation pursues objectives inherent to its nature as a government agency:

Knowledge generation, anticipation of needs and improvement of engineering and consulting services in the areas in which the company operates.

Through innovation, Isdefe can anticipate and train itself to support the challenges of the Public Administration in the future with the best guarantees.

The 2022-2025 Strategic Plan includes the Innovation Plan, an operational plan that develops the “Innovation” actions of the “Service Specialization” strategic objective.

01 FORESIGHT AND TECHNOLOGY WATCH

To anticipate and prepare for the challenges of the future, Isdefe has the Red Horizontes and is developing a technology and industrial foresight Hub.

The Red Horizontes is a flexible set of foresight and technology watch observatories articulated through specific or permanent collaborations with universities and benchmark organizations. The observatories draw up reports that make it possible to detect future trends in the technological areas of interest to Isdefe.

02 REINFORCEMENT OF POSITIONING

In order for Isdefe to maintain its position as a public benchmark for innovation in defense and security, it carries out R&D&I projects, as well as various activities related to systems engineering.

During 2022, the company participated in 8 R&D projects co-funded by the European Commission, 4 projects of the Horizon 2020 program in the security challenge and 4 SESAR2 projects. In addition, Isdefe developed 6 R&D projects with its own funding

03 PROMOTION OF INNOVATIVE CULTURE

Isdefe involves its staff as much as possible in the innovation process, as a guarantee of offering a better service to its clients.

Isdefe fosters a culture of innovation and offers an environment in which they can all contribute by generating ideas, carrying out projects and collaborating with other agents in the innovative ecosystem, which translates into:

•R&D&I Idea Capture and Management Program During 2022, the staff submitted 21 proposals.

•IX edition of the National Congress of R&D in Defense and Security (DESEi+d 2022), which was held in Pontevedra in November 2022, and there financed the two awards for the best communications of the congress.

04 DISSEMINATION AND EXPLOITATION OF RESULTS

Through the dissemination and exploitation of results, Isdefe aims to disseminate the knowledge obtained and generate a return on the investment made. The results of innovation activities lead to an improvement in the services provided and the possibility of offering new services to current and potential clients.

In 2022, 6 Knowledge Transfer Sessions (KTS) were held, 4 on the results of the Red Horizontes and 2 on the results of R&D&I Projects.

In addition, in April 2022 the first Innovation Week was held at Isdefe, focused on the Space sector, with broad participation by the company’s staff, clients and collaborators. Multiple communication and dissemination actions were also carried out, mainly on Isdefe’s LinkedIn and YouTube.
